Principal, Strategic Growth

With a unique blend of technical expertise (he’s a former applications developer) and consultative capabilities, Colby is able to bring all of his passions together as a Director of Strategic Growth at Root. With deep subject matter expertise on behavioral/cultural change and learning retention and adoption, Colby has worked with some of the world’s largest organizations to help successfully deploy and implement strategies, cultures, and other critical initiatives. Over his 10+ years at Root, Colby has partnered with clients to help identify the right organizational challenges to solve for and to create solutions that are clearly understood and embraced by the broader organization.

Previously, Colby researched and has written on technology and strategy adoption in the business context and has presented this research nationally, including topics such as the importance of the user experience in increasing strategy/initiative adoption, integrating predictive analytics for employee growth, and how to effectively drive sustained change throughout organizations. Colby has a Bachelor of Science and Technology degree with a focus on interactive media, complete with a minor in Marketing from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.

When he’s not helping his partners, Colby acts as Root’s unofficial personal trainer by hosting biweekly fitness classes open to all coworkers, called RootFit.
