John Schantz

Vice President, Strategic Accounts

John lives in Sylvania, Ohio, with his wife, Jodi, and their three children. In his spare time, John, a former college basketball player, satisfies his competitive juices by coaching his kids’ little league baseball and basketball teams.

John helps senior teams gain clarity on both their vision for the company and the strategic initiatives that will make the vision a reality. John’s expertise is in translating complex content and ideas into simple, usable, actionable information for others in the organization. John serves as a thought partner to help clients solve business problems related to team alignment and strategy execution, and is often the “go-to” resource at Root for challenging projects where alignment and deployment are key themes.

He is responsible for managing client relationships, growing the people within his team, and creating learning solutions for clients to meet their organizational needs. For more than 15 years at Root, John has led projects for clients including Booz Allen Hamilton, Procter & Gamble, Ascension, United Rentals, Kellogg’s, and Henry Ford Health System.

Before joining Root, John was responsible for managed care contracting at Mercy Health Partners, a large health system in Northwest Ohio. John’s first exposure to Root was when Mercy Health Partners hired Root, and it was at that point John says he was “hooked.”

John earned his undergraduate degree at Francis Marion University, and he holds an MBA from the University of Toledo.
